RealSpace VFM™ Family
BIM/Spatial Data Management

Online Interactive's RealSpace VFM™ (Virtual Facilities Management) platform presents a new approach to solving the complex problems inherent in BIM and spatial data management. Defined by the AIA as ‘a model-based technology linked with a database of project information’, BIM’s real promise relies upon robust interoperability of design and engineering data as well as advanced collaboration abilities and tight integration with drawing, procurement, environmental, and decision-making tools and processes. As more and more industry realizes the powerful potential of a well-crafted BIM workflow, traditional design and construction methods are being supplanted by a focus on using readily-available and accurate ‘virtual’ asset information to make more informed decisions - decisions that reduce cost and waste, increase safety and productivity, and improve schedule savings – all positively impacting the enterprise’s bottom line.

With a technologically advanced server-client architecture designed to overcome the inherent problems in delivering rich 3D CAD and hugely dense point clouds over the World Wide Web, RealSpace was designed by an international team of oil & gas industry engineers, technicians, programmers, and project managers to be the first completely collaborative BIM design, review, and analysis solution for all participants in the large asset lifecycle.

RealSpace’s web-based service-oriented architecture takes advantage of today’s most important Internet technologies to deliver flexible access to key data while delivering a superior user experience with a faster learning curve. RealSpace achieves these goals while minimally impacting existing processes and workflows.

Key SaaS features include:

  • Microsoft .NET architecture
  • XML-based data structures
  • Comprehensive and flexible service-oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Support for XML-only, and Microsoft or Oracle backend SQL databases
  • Lightweight and streamable 3D and 2D data formats
  • AJAX-enabled web software modules
  • Centralized and controlled software updates and maintenance
  • Real-time monitoring of RealSpace systems and users
  • Standalone web portal or direct integration within Microsoft SharePoint, DotNetNuke and iGoogle via software ‘modules’
  • Completely scalable from 1 to 100,000 users using common Microsoft technologies
  • Can be deployed at the Owner/Operator, EPCI, or subcontractor level, then provided as a service to other stakeholders
  • Minimal and in some cases, no need to install complex client software

ClashActionLE™ and ClashAction ™ for Microstation
Clash Detection, Reporting and Review Plug-in

Used either as a standalone tool or integrated within a RealSpace VFM™ solution, ClashAction™ comes in two versions and is used to check Microstation CAD data against a virtually unlimited amount of laser scan and other CAD data for fast clash detection and reporting. Completely contained within the Microstation interface, ClashAction™ allows the user to send the CAD to the offline 'virtual facility' engine for complex - yet lightning-fast - detection of interfering spatial data. In addition, the user can import the clashing data as Microstation elements, with intelligent reduction of imported points. Both versions of ClashAction™ offer full text-based reporting, but ClashAction ™ allows publishing of 3D clashes directly to a RealSpace VFM™ server, to the web for viewing in the free RealViewLE™ Viewer, or to Adobe's 3D PDF.

Scheduled to begin beta testing in May 2009, ClashAction™ will be released in mid-summer 2009.
